CNN goes Star Wars on election night with 3D hologram05 Nov Posted by Tom Andries as News, TV and Movies |
It must have cost heaps and it’s quite debatable if the use on election night was warrented, but CNN made television history going live with a hologram reporter in Chicago.
Jessica Yellin took place at the center of a circle consisting of 35 high definition cameras catching her every move… moments later she was beamed live in 3D at the CNN studios in New York.
Debatable?
Cool?! Absolutely, but what’s the point of having a reporter at the scene (in this case, Obama’s campaign headquarters) and then filtering the whole local scene out just to get that reporter back in the studio?
Cool technology… but probably a bit misused in this case. Though it’s certainly applaudable that CNN experiments with cutting edge technologies like these.
Watch the hologram for yourself right here!
