Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus movie sensation

Giant prehistoric monsters and comeback 80s stars this popcorn flick has both these ingredients!
When two enormous prehistoric creatures escape their thousand year old prison, melting ice caps… they start contending for supremacy of the sea, the California coast becomes the setting for a showdown that’s been centuries in the making.

That’s Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, the camp sci-fi movie will hit the Cannes Film Festival this weekend while the trailer already is a monster hit.

The trailer scored a million hits on MTV.com in just 2 days while racking up several hundred thousands hits on Youtube and Yahoo! Video.

The movie is also a fun comeback for two forgotten 80′s stars, singer Deborah Gibson and actor Lorenzo Lamas. They’re part of a heroic submarine crew taking on the prehistoric monsters.

Deborah Gibson admits the movie is not exactly Oscar material but that “Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus” is “ridiculously fun”.

“We leave the door open for a sequel. How about a giant lobster? That would be terrifying. They’re really scary,” Gibson jokes in an interview with People.

Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus will be in stores on May 19 as a direct-to-DVD release.
